Estonian start-up CartSkill is collaborating with international fashion brand Monton on trying out an innovative shopping experience in Facebook Messenger

As of today, you can buy and browse Monton’s fashion collections for women and receive personal shopping recommendations via Facebook Messenger. The Estonian start-up CartSkill differs from all shopping applications and apps, because it is the first of its kind in Messenger e-commerce solutions that uses product analysis based on visual similarity. Using image-based analysis, each client can find a suitable item of clothing or outfit quickly and conveniently. People in 44 countries can use Facebook Messenger to purchase and order Monton’s clothing lines through Facebook Messenger.

According to Külli Koort, manager of the e-commerce division of Baltika, the largest fashion design enterprise in the Baltics and the owner of Monton, Facebook has become the main social media platform used for online shopping. “The most recent PwC consumer survey in retail shows that more than half of Facebook users perform some of their everyday shopping on Facebook,” said Külli Koort. She also added that with this application, Monton is taking a step closer to the clients. “We are creating a new opportunity for communication in an environment where customers already today are communicating and spending their time”.

Indrek Vainu, the co-founder of CartSkill, said that the current world of apps, or mobile applications is becoming fulfilled. Smartphone users mostly use  three or four apps on average and they simply do not have time or interest for new apps. “The CartSkill application has been developed to operate as part of the existing Facebook Messenger app, which is very popular worldwide. Therefore, it is not necessary to download and use another new app to experience personalized shopping,” said Vainu. By nature, the CartSkill application is a bot that uses the technology of artificial intelligence to analyze the photos from Monton’s women collections pixel by pixel. The bot recommends to the client the most suitable pieces of clothing based on their first preference,” explained Vainu. CartSkill differs from all shopping applications and apps, because it is the first of its kind in Messenger e-commerce solutions that uses product analysis based on visual similarity.

You can buy and browse Monton’s clothing lines for women and receive personal shopping recommendations by sending Monton a message on Messenger. First visit Monton’s Facebook page, click “Message” and type /shopmonton into the message field. The application also works in the Messenger app created for smartphones. There simply mark Monton as the recipient of the message and then type the same phrase – /shopmonton – into the message field.
